Informed parents make the best decisions.

Every family is different, so we don’t tell you what to watch. We give you the facts you need to decide for yourself, quickly and with confidence.

Unbiased by design

No ads, no sponsored picks and no agenda. Our only job is to tell you what’s actually in a title.

Facts, not opinions

Everything we show is grounded in sourced information about the title and described in plain, neutral language.

Your values, your call

You choose what matters to your family. WatchDog flags it clearly and leaves the decision with you.

Seconds, not reviews

Get the answer for your child at a glance, with the reasons right there if you want them.

Guidance for your child, not an average one.

Age ratings tell you who a title was made for. WatchDog tells you how it fits the kid on your couch tonight.

01

Set up each child

Add a profile for each child with their age, how sensitive they are to fast, loud or intense content, and whether you lean fun-first or learning-first.

02

Tell us your values

Choose the topics your family wants a heads-up about. WatchDog flags them plainly and never decides for you.

03

Get a clear fit

Every title gets a fit for each child, with two to four plain reasons: what drove the score, what’s worth knowing, and what to talk through.

Four answers, no scolding.

We tell you what’s in a title and how it fits your child. You make the call.

Great pick

Press play

A strong match for this child’s age, comfort level and your family’s settings.

Good pick

A solid choice

A good fit overall. If it may feel young for an older kid, we just say so.

Watch together

Better side by side

Something specific is worth being there for, and we tell you exactly what.

Preview first

Take a look first

A few things may not suit this child yet. Read the notes and decide.

What’s behind every title.

Each title gets the same consistent look, so you can compare a movie night pick with tomorrow’s cartoon on equal terms.

Stimulation

How fast, loud and visually intense it is, so you can match it to your child’s comfort level.

Learning & behavior

What it teaches and how characters treat each other, described plainly.

Worth knowing

Specific content notes, from scary scenes to language, so nothing catches you off guard.

About us

Started by friends who met in Minneapolis.

WatchDog was founded by Adam Zvanovec and Weston Bradshaw, who met in college in Minneapolis. It started with a simple frustration: age ratings are blunt, and long reviews take longer to read than the episode. Parents deserve fast, trustworthy information about what their kids watch.

Today our team works from Minneapolis, Minnesota and Sarasota, Florida. We build the app and the catalog ourselves, and we don’t sell family data or show ads.
